Place is a project that provides a space for artists-in-residence and short-term stays. It is a shared place that combines art and living. The place is able to accommodate 6 persons, it is for existing and new companions.

The project is in a five unit three story 1930 brick building in Brooklyn. There are three rooms in the apartment. All beds have white linens, comforters, duvets, high-quality shampoo and soap. We try making the space greatly comfortable as well as respond to the conditions of the New York context.

Alighierro Boetti used One Hotel as the site for making Mappa and Allen Ruppersberg’s Al’s Grand Hotel was a site of interaction. Although production and social elements are present, the aim is to work for wholeness, exploring what this could mean, and how we might achieve this.

Artist and curatorial residencies are available for one week to three month period for exceptional artists. A select group of applicants will receive free accommodation. Private sessions with New York curators and artists are organized for the residency. The space provides a live- in studio for art production.

Artists-in-residence are typically invited directly, although Place is currently seeking artists working in the mediums of writing, drawing, painting, and sculpture. Interested practitioners may write to the address below. Please include a CV, artist statement, and a website. apply@placeresidency.org.

Artists not applying for residency or other guest residents please visit the Reservations page.

The programming changes each week and month. Organized and spontaneous events are presented by the host and artists-in- residence. Guests can participate as little or as much as they want.
