Educating People — Connecting Worlds

What We Do

State of Education
Jim Ovia Scholarship
In 2018, we partnered with the Jim Ovia Foundation to establish the Jim Ovia Foundation Leadership Scholarship. This groundbreaking endeavor aims to educate young Africans to lead the continent. In collaboration with our university partners, we provide comprehensive academic scholarships that propel the pursuit of innovation-driven careers.
Future Leaders Legacy Fund
In 2014, we launched the Future Leaders Legacy Fund (FLLF) to sponsor full-tuition scholarships for first-generation, undergraduate students. Through FLLF, we aim to shift the life and career trajectories for highly competitive students who would otherwise be unable to attend university without scholarship funds. With the help of African universities, individual donors, AAI alumni and corporate sponsors, we help realize the higher education aspirations of emerging African scholars.
Transformational Leadership Program
Founded in 2007, the Transformational Leadership Program (TLP), represents our longest running initiative. TLP provides leadership development opportunities for African nationals working in areas of service delivery. Originally piloted and supported by the Coca-Cola Africa Foundation (TCCAF), we now fully sponsor TLP with the support of AAI donors. In 2016, we enhanced TLP’s impact with e-learning and blended-learning models that increased access for African NGO leaders and social entrepreneurs.
AAI Annual Talent Summit
EADB Scholarship Program
In 2015, we joined forces with the East Africa Development Bank (EADB) to launch the EADB Scholarship Program. Over the course of a year long, fast-track curriculum, experienced Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) faculty from EADB member countries earn Masters’ degrees in related fields at Rutgers University in New Jersey.
